Evaluation of an Information System Change
The technological change in the system of the Vila Health care organization is necessary to ensure the effectiveness of the treatment provided to the patients along with increasing the satisfaction level of the patients (Popescu et al., 2022). The efficiency of the information system implemented can be determined through the feedback from the patients and assessing the effectiveness of the staff in dealing with the healthcare situation for better outcomes for the patient and overall enhancement of the reputation of the healthcare organization. This change will help the healthcare organization reduce hospital readmission expenses and retests in case of deteriorating health conditions, thus reducing the cost of care for the patients. The information systems implemented for the betterment of the health situation include a remote patient monitoring (RPM) system and a patient portal. This assessment will be based on analyzing the effectiveness of the integrated information systems in healthcare through the proper evaluation report. This report will help in understanding the impact of updated systems in Vila Health aimed at improving the patient’s experience and staff well-being.
Part 1: Evaluation Report, Framework Components
The evaluation of the change is necessary to ensure that it is facilitating the healthcare organizations and all the stakeholders involved by providing effective care and treatment to the patients (Laurisz et al., 2023). The framework also provides a structured approach to the evaluation of the integrated health information system and how it will help in creating a positive response for the patients. The framework is based on Kurt’s change management theory having three components including the quality of information, the results of the implemented change system, and the structural quality of the change implemented for the betterment of the health of the patients and ensuring the efficiency of staff in dealing with deteriorating health situations and emergencies.
Change Management Theory
The implementation of the change can be effective by implementing change management theory which will provide a structured approach to the implementation of the information system in the healthcare facility (Harrison et al., 2021). The theory used here is Kurts change management including three phases to ensure the effectiveness of the RPM and patient portal in dealing with the patients. The first phase involves providing information regarding the change to the staff and efficiently communicating the need for change, the second phase includes the implementation of the change and evaluating its impacts, and the last phase ensures that all the stakeholders and the healthcare professionals are effectively cooperating with the change for the enhanced healthcare response of the patients.
How to Assess the Impact of Change Project
The change can be easily assessed using the change management theory of Kurt which involves three phases of identifying the effectiveness of the informational change using RPM and patient portal in the healthcare facility. All three phases involve a deep analysis of the change and how it will impact the staff in validating the provision of standard care facilities to the patients.
Defining the Quality of Information Framework
The effectiveness of the system implemented for the change in the Vila healthcare organization can be sustainable if quality information is provided to the staff using effective data sources and evidence to ensure the correctness and accuracy of the data (Nilsen et al., 2020). The data provided to the staff can be evaluated using the CRAPP model in which firstly the currency of data involving checking the time in which data is published is identified and then relevance, authority, and accuracy of the data can be evaluated from the sources it is collected and at the purpose of the collected data is defined for the clear understanding of the stakeholders.
Protected Health Information System (PHI)
The integration of technology in the healthcare system comes with the great need for the security and safety of the patient information that is collected for providing quality treatment to the patient. The guidelines provided by the PHI system should be implemented in the integration process of the RPM and patient portal in Vila Health.
Patient Satisfaction
The information should include the perspective regarding the satisfaction level of the patients with the technology implemented and how it will help in increasing the effectiveness of the staff dealing with deteriorating health situations (Javaid et al., 2024). Patient satisfaction is necessary because both systems start collecting patient information to enhance the quality of the treatment provided to the patients that is why informed consent regarding the technological use and how it will impact the health of the patients should be provided to the patients.
Defining Outcomes of Quality Care Framework
The effectiveness of the change plan can be evaluated through its outcomes which need to be accurate according to the goal of enhancing the care facilities for the patients and improving the reputation of the overall healthcare organization (Bhati et al., 2023). The project completion time is from seven to eight months different evaluation methods will be used in this period from time to time to identify the effectiveness of the implementation of informational change in the system of Vila Health to resolve health issues and provide quality treatment to the patients and increasing the life span by reducing the health disparities and rate of hospital readmissions. Identifying the impact of the system on the patients and the organization is necessary to ensure that the implementation process successfully integrates the concerns of Vila Health regarding the provision of quality treatment to the patients. The cost-effectiveness of the change will play a significant role in improving the response of the patients.
Defining the Structural Quality Framework
The evaluation of the change implemented can be determined from all perspectives including the assessment of the hardware and software of Vila Health to understand how effectively this system can integrate the new technology and their capability to maintain the accuracy and completeness of the healthcare responses (Hanbury et al., 2023). Moreover, the effectiveness of the system can be determined by collecting feedback from the stakeholders and healthcare providers along with conducting surveys and implementing systems monitoring of the accuracy of the technology.
Part 2: Evaluation Plan Table
The plan implemented for the evaluation of the technological system of Vila Health consists of five major factors including the goal and objectives of the organization, the integration of framework components, and the measurement of the outcomes (Popescu et al., 2022). The frequency of the evaluation of the outcomes and rationale measurement for the improvement of the feedback from the patients. All these factors have their purpose which is given below;
- The goal of Vila Health is to ensure quality care and safety for all patients around the world irrespective of their geographical location.
- The involvement of all the stakeholders in the implantation process and the effectiveness of the change is another major goal of the change management theory.
- The involvement of the stakeholders ensures that they understand the system and how it can be implemented effectively in the clinical setting to generate positive responses from the patient.
- The selected measurements and framework aim to create quality feedback for the patient and increase the level of patient satisfaction.
